A group of pre-teens undergoing a growing-up ritual in a Kibutz in Israel.
They were working to set up a big fire exhibit for the whole comunity: designing, building and executing everything practically by themselves.
And all of this is just one of many tasks they arrange through a whole year.
I was with them for about a month documenting them on their preperations and eventually on a cold night on top of a mountain, where they lit their display on fire!
I captured them in moments of play, and silent consentration. I saw them guide and help each other, as they were literally growing up before our eyes.
